Paint by Textiles

Just to start off, I have recently discovered what many of you are probably already familiar with. Pinterest. All amazing crafty, DIY, fashion, style, garden knowledge all in one place. This is where I discovered the topic of this post. I wouldn't have thought it, but you can print on fabric! With your standard inkjet/laserjet printer!

So here's the how to (I've lost the original link).

First, get some fusible paper from your local fabric store. (used for making fabric fusible to be ironed onto other fabric).

Cut a piece of the fusible paper the size of a 8"x11" piece of paper (or a little bit larger to be safe).

Place this on top of a piece of fabric, the same size or larger. Then iron according to directions, pressing a hot iron, no steam, on the paper/fabric for 3 seconds.

Trim to exact size of a piece of printer paper. You are ready to print. Put through printer as usual, and you'll have whatever design you want on your fabric!

Its pretty exciting for me as an easy way to make professional looking labels for the slippers I make. I don't think the ink is washer safe, buy you could always treat it with something from the fabric store to lock in the ink.
